The Top 10 Keys to Successful Weight-Loss

By Bryanna Bredius It doesnt matter if you have to lose 5 pounds or 500 pounds. There is only one way to do it safely. That is (and Im sure youve heard it before) diet and exercise. Yep, they go hand in hand and are very effective together. My question to you would be, how bad do you want it? Quite frankly, there are so many people out there who claim they are just as fed as the next person when it comes to weight-loss but just arent willing to do what it takes to get the job done. I know how hard it is because Ive done it myself. Im not going to lie. Ive tried all of the quick fixes; all except surgery. But, I wasnt too far from that either. The truth is that the battle in weight-loss is much easier these days than it used to be. There are a ton of resources out there to help you along the way. Its time to start your journey, so, get a piece of paper and a pen my friend. Go ahead, Ill wait! Im not going anywhere just yet. Okay, write this down: The Top 10 Keys to Weight-Loss 1. Set your goals and WRITE THEM DOWN! (You can do this now if you like) I know youve heard this a million times. But it really is extremely important because it gives you something to reflect on the big picture. The key to this is to set a realistic goal in a realistic amount of time. Also, set a bunch of short term goals and ONE long term goal. Set your long term goal first. Lets say its 30 pounds. Ask yourself how much time are you going to need to effectively and safely do this? Just an FYI, you should give yourself AT LEAST 12 weeks for that scenario. This would mean that your plan is to lose 2.5 pounds a week, which is very good and safe as well. These weekly goals are your short term goals. In the first couple weeks you may see that you lose a little more but it should steady out in 2-3 weeks. Also, set your weekly goals with activity as well. This brings me to the second key to your success. 2. Get into activity! What do you do well AND enjoy? If its shopping, then shop! Do a lot of it! See, the key there is that you are walking as well as maybe lifting, trying on clothes you get my drift. If you dance, well then, DANCE! Kirstie Alley lost 75 pounds doing that! If youre good at cleaning, CLEAN! Turn on the radio and make it fun! My point is that you can turn what you enjoy into exercise and make it count! Though I highly recommend it, you dont have to go to the gym everyday in order to get into an active lifestyle. Its better if you do for many reasons like relief of stress (which is a must for success), relief of tension, mental wellness, good for the heart yada, yada… BUT there are lots of ways to get in your activity. You just need to be creative and consistent. Know that it takes about 3500 calories to burn 1 pound. This will help you select the caloric intake you will need daily in order to hit your goal. Selecting this really depends on several different factors. You can find out more about how to do that at www.thepound4pound.blogspot.com. 3. Support / Mindset This is so important to a successful weight-loss. You need to tell your friends and family what you are doing. I know that this can be hard because quite simply, by doing this, you are making yourself accountable for your actions. Let your family and friends know how important theyre role is in this mission. Its important that they are aware of your position and that theyre encouragement is always welcome. In my experience, my friends and family were very cautious in that they would offer me something that may not be the best for me at that time, but if I had the will power to say NO once, they would NOT push me. However, I did have to make that clear to them and this was a hard thing to do, but once I took my stand, it was clearly understood that I was serious. Im not going to try and tell you that there wont be times that you slip. The key is that when you do (because you will), you FORGIVE yourself and get back on track. Dont look back, just move forward. Your mindset is crucial to your success. It can single handedly make or break your success. You must make sure that you stay positive even when it gets tough. This could be a whole new subject, so Ill just say that you can get what you need on this subject at www.thesecret.tv . Its important that you understand how to think. You wont regret it I promise. 4. Eat and be merry! Make sure you are eating enough food. Most people make the mistake of not eating enough which puts their body into a starvation mode that will ultimately result in no weight-loss at all. Breakfast is the single most important meal of the day. It boosts your metabolism by 25%. This is the goal here. Also, make sure that you have lots of veggies lying around. This will help you to quench any hunger in between meals. A good habit to get into is to pre-plan your meals by writing them down and spacing them out to 3 meals and 3 snacks a day. This should make up the total amount of caloric intake throughout your day. If youre hungry in between these meals and snacks, there are several options for you. You can find them at the resources listed throughout this article. Also, keep in mind that you can have as many veggies as you want. 5. Get label conscious In order to do this, youve got to read them! You would be surprised at how quickly you become an expert on whats in the grocery store. Know what your options are when deciding what to stock your fridge and cupboards with. Im not going to lie. Some things you try taste like, well not so good. But its worth the risk because believe it or not, there are a lot of options out there that are quite pleasing to the taste buds. Dont stick to one market either. What one market has, the other does not. 6. Familiarize yourself with outside support systems Forums and topic based chat rooms are a great way to get support, recipes and great ideas to help with your lifestyle change. Just to name a few www.hungry-girl.com (resource) www.jennycraig.com (chat) www.thepound4pound.blogspot.com (forum) 7. Take a before and after picture Okay, this one is hard. But youd be surprise at the motivation it will give you to keep going. Do it in your birthday suit so that you get the full effect and put it someplace where you and only you can see it everyday. Take a new picture of yourself at your halfway point. Youll love what you see! 8. Always be prepared! When you go to parties, DONT GO HUNGRY! Youre just asking to fall off the wagon if you do this! Be sure to eat a healthy snack or meal (depending on what time you go) before you go. If you really need some security and confidence with this, than bring your own snack to have for a back-up. Also, STAY AWAY FROM THE FOOD TABLE! If you must hover by it, then hover in front of the veggies for cryin out loud! Dont torture yourself! Another thing that is helpful is to always have a glass of water in your hand. For some reason, this helps what I call the munch syndrome. Not only that but for every 64 oz. of cold water you drink, you burn 100 extra calories. Water also helps to prevent loose skin if there is a lot of weight to be lost and helps curb hunger. Its good stuff. Drink as much as you can. 9. Know how to do food exchanges This is something that needs practice and just like the labels, will come easy with time. It is a tool that will eventually allow you to eat or drink whatever you want (within reason) with out paying for the consequences. 10. Get your calcium by putting dairy in your diet! This is something that for years was considered a no-no when it came to dieting. The truth is that calcium in dairy is the key to losing 25% MORE weight than someone who does not have dairy in their diet. You want to incorporate 3 servings a day. Skim or Fat Free milk are the best options for this for obvious reasons. Fat free yogurt is good (not frozen), along with cheese and cottage cheese. Stay away from sour cream in regards to this and ice cream doesnt count either folks Sorry! So there you have it! You now have the basic tools to have a successful weight-loss plan. The key is to pay attention to what works for you. What makes you feel good, mentally and physically, is a tell tale sign that whether or not what youre doing is good for you. October Man Sequence - Probably The Most Deadly Seduction Sequence Known To Man

By Derek Rake Ever since mentioned in ‘The Game’ by Neil Strauss, the October Man Sequence has become somewhat of a legend. It purportedly is able to make a woman want to go to bed with a man in as fast as 15 minutes. On the perhaps negative side, it is also known to make stalkers out of the woman that the sequence is performed on! During its release, the October Man Sequence had caused quite a stir in the seduction community, as evidenced by multiple threads on the sequence in almost all the major forums in the community. So what really is October Man Sequence? The October Man Sequence was originated by a veteran in the seduction community who went by the pseudonym IN10SE. He was portrayed as one of the key players in Neil Strauss’ book (where he was known as Twotimer). IN10SE was also a student of Speed Seduction guru Ross Jeffries and a peer of Swinggcat (the writer of Real World Seduction). IN10SE had based the technique on Milton Erickson’s February Man book (he had renamed it the ‘October Man’ because his birthday was in October). The sequence was designed around hypnosis and NLP concepts such as framing, focus, intention and fractionation. The basic premise of the October Man is symbolism. The concept of symbolism in hypnosis is the idea of turning a particular feeling in a person into a symbol which is then manipulated. The symbol is anchored towards another person (the hypnotist) and this is further used in order to invoke certain feelings (pleasure or pain) in the person. This symbol is the link into a person’s unconscious. By controlling this symbol, it is therefore possible to control the person’s feelings at will. Concerns on the use of the October Man Sequence There were some concerns on the usage of this seduction pattern. It is so potent that according to IN10SE, using this technique is akin to “bringing a nuclear bomb to a gunfight”. For some time, seduction gurus have taken the stand not to teach such patterns because they were thought to bring more harm than good. However, this purportedly ‘dark’ technique was finally released by IN10SE after some fake materials exchanged hands at Ebay for good money. While this technique might not be suitable for everyone, anyone with even a passing interest in the sequence should go to the IN10SE’s website and download a PDF sample of the book. Also, there is free audio where the author himself goes through a demonstration of sexual value elicitation. According to Sinn, an instructor with Mystery Method, “(It is) far and away the best NLP product I’ve seen”. The jury is still out on whether the October Man Sequence is the deadliest seduction sequence known to man, but it remains a highly potent weapon in the seductionist’s toolbox. Derek Rake is a veteran in the seduction community, and is a keen practitioner of NLP-based seduction patterns. Missing Persons

By Thomas Morva Missing persons are many and greatly varied; they can become missing for any number of different reasons. Someone who has disappeared for a long time, with no apparent reason, is generally termed as a “missing” person. Typically, a photograph of the missing person is posted on postcards, bulletin boards, and websites, with a contact number to call if anyone comes see an individual resembling the picture. The reasons for such disappearances can be varied: runaway; throw away (abandoned children); kidnapping or abduction; slavery; wage slavery; child pornography; prostitution (often in combination with drug addiction); child stealing; serfdom; sweat shop work service; unfree labor; shanghaiing; or simply running away. In the United States, there is an average of over 100,000 reported cases of people missing annually; eight of every ten cases are children. Generally, people have a false impression that a person must be missing for 72 hours (three days) before legally termed as a “missing” person. However, this is seldom the case. In circumstances where there is evidence of unusual absence or violence, law enforcement agencies regularly emphasize the importance of starting a prompt investigation. Usually, if a person has gone missing for seven years, without any evidence to prove otherwise, he or she is deemed as “legally dead.” Every year, around the world, a million people are reported missing. About nine of every ten missing people are eventually found. The rest are labeled “missing.” In America, the intensity of the law enforcement in the area of missing people has increased in recent times. Missing Persons provides detailed information on Missing Persons, Missing Persons Search, Find Missing Person, Missing Persons List and more. Missing Persons is affiliated with Types of Ghosts. Teen Depression

By Milos Pesic Everyone feels down at some point. Its normal to feel the blues. But if you are sad most of the time and the feeling is starting to affect your grades, relationships, and your behavior in many ways, then the problem may be more than just the blues. It may be teen depression, a serious illness that approximately four out of a hundred teenagers suffer through each year. How do you when youre depressed? Or when a friend might be depressed? The signs of depression are numerous that there is usually no hard and fast rule to identifying all the symptoms of teen depression. But the most important thing to remember is that there are generally two types of teen depression. Under the first type, you will find two other types of depression which vary only in their intensity major depression or clinical depression (severe) and dysthymia or chronic depression (moderate but lasts for a longer period). The second type of teen depression is referred to as bipolar depression, the depressive state of manic-depressive disorder, a condition wherein the subject suffers periodic bouts of mania or elevated mood and depression where the subject is often too low in energy that he would not be able to move. It would take a health professional to distinguish the particular type of teen depression. It is advisable therefore that you consult professional help when you notice any of the following signs of teen depression: * Persistent feelings of sadness (You cry a lot and for no apparent reason) * Persistent feelings of guilt, again, for no real reason (You feel like you are no good or are worthless) * Loss of confidence or low self-esteem * You feel as though life is meaningless and that nothing good will ever come out of it. * You always seem to be exhausted and you do not feel like doing the things that you used to enjoy a lot, like music, sports, being with friends, or going out. Most of the time, you just want to be left alone. * You keep getting distracted and you cant seem to concentrate. You also forget things, or you do things without any recollection of doing them. * Little things make you lose your temper. You get irritated very easily, or you overreact. * Your sleep pattern changes. Either you sleep more or you sleep less or you cant seem to fall asleep or stay asleep. You wake up too early most mornings and have difficulty falling back to sleep. Insomnia (too little sleep) or hyposomnia (too much sleep) sets in. * Your eating habits also change. You have lost your appetite or you eat a lot more. Weight gain or weight loss is drastic. * You think about death, or feel like you are dying, or you have thoughts about committing suicide, whether or not you have the energy to actually harm yourself. What to Do to Beat Depression

By Alex Matis While it does sound terrible for the diagnosed patient the diagnosis depression has actually lost much of its scariness over the past years due to a much better knowledge on the causes of depression and better means to beat depression than available in the past. The first line of treatment for depression sufferers is without doubt the use of anti-depressants prescribed by a medical practitioner, usually combined with some kind of talk therapy by a psychotherapist. In cases of mild depression the use of alternative methods to beat depression, such as certain herbal remedies may be indicated. Apart of those treatment options, which are more or less driven by the patients doctor, there are many supportive measures a depressed patient can and should actively use in order to increase his chances to beat depression and to prevent it from coming back once he has been successfully treated. Among the most important patient-driven activities that can help to beat depression are a healthy diet and sports. It has been shown over and over again that a proper nutritional mix of fruits and vegetables, fish, milk products and meat has a profound positive effect on the depressed patient (apart of generally increasing ones health). Vitamin- and mineral supplements may also be added to such a healthy diet. It is also well known that activities such as brisk walking, jogging or any other kind of sports, if pursued in reasonable quantities, are very helpful. Another important step to be taken that helps to beat depression is to mingle with other people such as family members and friends as much as possible. It is commonly very hard for any depressed patient to do this especially during acute phases of depression, since having no real interest in or even an aversion for meeting people is one of the common symptoms of depression. However, if a patient can push himself (or can be pushed by a caring friend) to meet people and to enjoy himself (as much as possible under the given circumstances) much can be gained. Getting lots of sleep and the possibility to relax and to avoid stress at work and at home are further important stepping stones on the way to beat depression. Especially the strong positive correlation of stress to depression and many other diseases has been repeatedly shown. While stress avoidance in itself is a good means to beat depression further support can be provided by special relaxation techniques and meditation. Finally, another important contributor to furthering the chances to successfully beat depression is to increase the self-confidence of the depressed patient, since this mood disorder often is connected to a weak self-confidence and even self-hate. So, as described above, there are many different ways to beat depression in addition to depression medication and talk therapy. To combine all of the above mentioned activities is a guarantee for a significant improvement of a patients chances to beat depression. Furthermore, the described means contribute significantly to the prevention of depression episodes, which otherwise might occur in the future. What to Look for in a Garden Bench

By Allen Briarwood Decorating the outside of your home in style is easy when you start with the simple garden bench. An outdoor bench will complement practically any garden, patio or outdoor living area, especially when youve chosen the appropriate bench. If you are looking for a bench to complete your garden area, the following thoughts should help you in the selection process. When choosing a garden bench, the first thing to consider is the type of material for the bench construction. You want the material to be appropriate for the style of your home and the overall design of your outdoor space. A rustic wood bench would be perfectly suitable for a free-flowing garden of wildflowers. In a more structured English garden, you may opt for a sleek, backless teak bench. You will also want to consider how you plan to spend your time outdoors and what function the bench will provide. Outdoor benches come in a variety of styles, including park, backless and garden benches. It’s best to decide where and how the outdoor benches will be used before you decide on a style. Storage benches are a smart option when you want to house outdoor toys, gardening tools or pool and spa supplies. This is a favorite piece of outdoor furniture because of the perfect combination of functionality and charm it embodies: the seat opens to reveal the hidden storage space. After youve chosen the style and material, the addition of cushions can impart an extra element of comfort to your outdoor bench. Cushions also provide an easy way for you to showcase your personal style. Allow your individual selection of fabric, color and pattern to convey your personality. And have fun relaxing on your garden bench! Allen Briarwood is a contributing editor of Backyard Guru, a website that offers Lawn and Patio Furniture and Garden Benches. Choosing the Best Sites for Your Wedding and Reception

By Rose L The perfect wedding day has been pictured in your mind and dreams almost your entire lifetime. If you’re like most, you may already have a vivid picture of how you want your wedding and reception to look even down to the last detail such as which flowers are going to be included in your flower arrangements and decor. But did your daydreams and imaginings include where you want to the sacred event to take place and where you are going to celebrate your union with family and friends? If not, there are a few things to keep in mind when selecting the perfect spot to hold your wedding and reception: budget, amount of guests, theme and type of wedding, and whether or not you want your ceremony and reception at the same location. Let’s start with the budget first. By keeping in mind your budget throughout the whole decision making process, you can prevent heartache in the end. Suppose you found the perfect dream wedding spot only to learn that you could not possibly afford to hold your wedding there? Likely if you chose to have your ceremony in any other spot it would pale in comparison and be a disappointment when compared with the one you couldn’t swing. On the other hand, what if you threw caution to the wind and indulged in the more expensive site? In this case, you might become bitter about your wedding day when the bills start to pile up or when you have to forgo your honeymoon to cover the costs. These two scenarios illustrate why it is very important to evaluate the cost before investigating any particular wedding or reception site. If it’s over your budget, don’t even look at it. Your theme and type of wedding are also very important when choosing the perfect spot for your wedding nuptials. If you are having an informal country wedding, it would not make much sense to book an elaborate reception hall. A better choice may be to have an outdoor reception on a farm complete with a bonfire, country band, and wagon rides for the little ones. If you’re just looking for a little inspiration and a list of great wedding sites to investigate, your local chamber of commerce can supply you with sites, historical and modern, that can be rented for functions such as weddings. This may be a great help when you’re trying to find a spot for your wedding that is unique and truly reflects your personality. Remember, it’s your wedding and your dreams. Do not give in to family pressure or be tempted to take the first place that comes along. Do your homework and you will be guaranteed to realize the wedding of your dreams. Parsley: A Cook’s Best Friend

By Gwen Stewart A cooks best friend, Petroselinum crispum, commonly known as curly parsley, is used in myriad ways in the kitchen. Often discarded by diners as just a garnish, parsley has many valuable nutrients including bet-carotene, calcium, iron, and Vitamins A and C in easily assimilated form. Parsley has a pleasant flavour and is often used as a breath freshener particularly after eating raw garlic and onions. Parsley is a hardy biennial or short-lived perennial and grows 10 12 inches (24 30 cm) tall. Cultivation requirements: fairly rich, moist soil, full sun or partial shade, water well during dry periods. In the second year, yellowish-white flowers are produced. Parsley can be treated as an annual for cooking purposes, as the first years leaves are superior to the later crops. Parsley will self-sow so you can leave it where it is. Curly parsley makes a gorgeous edging along garden beds and is attractive planted with flowers and in container gardens. You can start the plants in the house prior to planting in the garden or you can seed it straight into the location where you want it to grow. Parsley can be grown indoors or out. Grow parsley from seed or you can purchase started plants at the garden centres. I have read numerous times that it is hard to germinate parsley from seed but I have not had any problems. If growing parsley in pots, plant in a deep pot to accommodate the long taproot. Parsley can be brought indoors at the end of the growing season the same as other herbs. When bringing indoors, pot up in fresh potting soil, and check for critters. If there is an infestation, spray with a soap and water spray. Parsley requires at least 5 hours of sunlight if grown indoors. If you are growing it on a windowsill, parsley should be turned regularly to ensure that all sides receive sunlight. Parsley grows well under fluorescents lights during the winter. Hang lights 6 inches (15 cm) from the plants and leave on for 14 hours a day. In the garden, parsley can be planted near asparagus, corn, and tomatoes. In the kitchen, parsley can be used fresh in salads, sauces, and soups. Add to stews, stuffing, vegetable dishes, eggs, tabbouleh, dips, biscuits, omelets, rice and pasta dishes, meat, fish, shellfish, poultry the list is endless. Parsley can be mixed with soft cheeses such as ricotta or cottage cheese. Chop it finely, mash into butter and serve with bread, or melt it into casseroles, scrambled eggs, or pasta. Tie 3 sprigs of parsley, 1 sprig of thyme, and 1 bay leaf together with string to make a bouquet garni. Add the herbs to a soup pot and pull out just before serving. Parsley can be dried or frozen. To store fresh parsley in the fridge, place the stems in a glass jar of cold water. It will stay fresh for several days. Bartending: Building A Foundation For A Profitable and Rewarding Career

By Dave Parks Dating back thousands of years, bartending began as a trade by those that produced liquor and in turn sold it to the public. This was not only a profitable venture for these early bartenders, but provided a product in huge demand by the public. Historically humans have always had a fondness for spirits which is an enormous benefit to those pursuing a bartending career. Prohibition makes a very clear case that people want their drinks and demand is not quashed by the absence of product. Very few careers can offer you virtually guaranteed placement in literally any place you wish to live and work in the world. Most bartenders, in fact, earn more than entry level college graduates, with some eventually earning 6 figure incomes. Becoming a successful bartender takes more than just learning to spin drink recipes. The professional bartender is well versed on the legal and business ramifications of alcohol management and service. Today’s bartenders are a breed apart, savvy and knowledgeable performers in a fast paced exciting environment. Simply put, there is no aspect more vital to a professional bartending career than the foundation built by a quality bartending school. Bartending schools provide more than just preparation, they directly effect how much you earn from your very first day on the job. Some certifications, such as TIPS (Training for Intervention Procedures or TAM (Techniques in Alcohol Management) are required by law in many states. Given the earning potential bartending offers as a career, the cost of attending a quality bartending school becomes a wise investment rather than an expense. Most bartending schools are very affordable, require very little time (as little as 2 weeks), and can be found in nearly every state in the country. When selecting a bartending school, make sure to ask these questions, and be leery of those that cannot offer answers. What is the schools’ industry reputation and how long have they been teaching? Look for a school well recognized in the bartending education industry. Many schools have a long history making research easy. What are the size of the classes and how well equipped are they? Look for low teacher to student ratios and facilities that mimic actual working environments as closely as possible. Is the bartending school licensed by the state? What credentials are required for the instructors? Verifying that a school is actually licensed by the state they teach in is important. Find out what they look for when they hire instructors. Instructors, if well chosen, are industry vets that can provide invaluable insight into the bartending industry. Can you be given references of graduates who are working in the industry? What is the bartending school’s job placement policy? Any reputable school will have working graduates who will endorse the school. If not, you need to be careful. A successful job placement plan is always indicative of a good training facility. If local bars have had success with hiring quality graduates then you can rest assured that school is worth a second look. Bartending offers a rewarding and profitable career for those that are serious about their pursuit. While there is a lot of hard work involved, the excitement and fun of the atmosphere is hard to beat. Investing in a quality education will put you on the fast track to maximized earnings in bartending. Artificial Flowers - From Hell

By Morgan Hamilton My neighbor is totally devoid of any artistic sense. The materials he chooses for his yard decoration are totally baffling. Even though his yard is neat and well maintained, the decorations he placed there will appall anyone. He fancies using artificial flowers in his decorations but the result of his labor always looked like a product of some demented scientific experiment. You would think that he would be an excellent horror set designer for Hollywood. Year after year I have to suffer from the awful designs that he sets up in his yard. He is fond of making sprawling flower beds out of artificial flowers. The problem is, he doesnt bother to make them look as though theyre genuine. As a result the flower blooms he makes every spring are out of control and the greenery in his yard is always much too green. The colors he picks for his artificial flower designs are those that are never found in nature like neon green, and fluorescent pink, which gives you the feeling that youre dreaming every time you happen to gaze out into his yard. His aesthetic preference makes you wonder if he is color blind, or is suffering from some rare type of eye disease. He loves artificial stuff so much that I wouldnt be surprised if he replaces his lawn with Astroturf.
