10 Steps To Effective Networking

By Allison Shields Most attorneys say that their business comes through word of mouth or referrals. How do we keep those referrals coming? How do we establish and maintain relationships with referral sources and potential clients? Through effective networking. Here are 10 steps to ensure that your networking efforts are productive: 1. Have a purpose Set clear objectives when you attend a networking event. Is there someone in particular that you want to be sure to meet or speak with? Do you want to get known within a certain circle? Are you simply trying to determine whether a particular group is worth joining? Are you seeking information about a particular person or group? Are you trying to identify potential prospects or strategic alliances? Do you want to make 2 good connections? Having a clear objective will help you determine whether the event was worthwhile. 2. Focus on quality, not quantity Networking isnt a race to collect the most business cards. Its about making connections. Remember: people do business with people they know, like and trust. Focus on meeting one or two people and establishing an initial connection, rather than just collecting business cards. Make sure to learn something concrete about each person you meet. The more you know about your contacts, the more effectively you can market to them. 3. Get involved with something youre passionate about Networking isnt just cocktail parties and networking breakfasts. Its making lasting connections with other people that are mutually beneficial. You are more likely to participate if youre passionate about a cause or activity, and youll create deeper bonds with others in the group. Sharing experiences creates a more meaningful connection and makes it more likely that youll get business or referrals. 4. Listen People love to talk about themselves. What people really want to know when they meet you is what you can do for them or how you can benefit them. If your goal is to meet new people and make a positive and lasting connection, make sure that youre listening much more than you are speaking. Make it about what you can do for them. Listening allows you to find out about others needs and address what you can do for them and how you can benefit them whether directly through the services that you provide, or by putting them in touch with others that can help them if you cant. As Bob Burg, author of Endless Referrals suggests, ask questions about others needs, business, problems, challenges, and desires. Some examples of questions to ask include: How did you get started in your business? What do you enjoy most about what you do?What would you do if you knew you couldnt fail? What significant changes have occurred in your business or industry within the past several years? How have those changes affected you?How would you want people to describe you?How would I know if a certain person is a good prospect or lead for you? 5. Be prepared Be ready to answer the question about what you do with a response that focuses on the benefits to your clients, the problems they face and the results you create, NOT on activities or on what you do. Dont use labels like lawyer or attorney usually labels make people stop listening and rely on their pre-conceived notions about what that label means. 6. Seek out strategic alliances Potential clients arent the only reason to attend networking events. You cant be all things to all people. Consider networking events as places to meet other who can provide services to your clients that are complimentary to yours, and who can become referral sources for your business. Remember that when youre networking or meeting people, youre connecting with their entire network, too. 7. Make diverse contacts Many lawyers make the mistake of joining groups or speaking to people that are too similar to them. That creates an echo chamber effect in which people are echoing back the same information and contacts to you. The goal in networking is to widen your net. 8. Follow up Most networking efforts fail in the follow up. Intentions arent enough. Action is the key. Networking is about creating relationships, and real relationships cant be formed in a few minutes in a room full of people. For networking to be effective, you need to follow up with those you meet at a networking event. Some ideas: Send a handwritten thank you note reminding the recipient who you are, where you met and what you discussedContact a new connection and suggest meeting for coffee to learn more about their businessSend an article or information on a topic you discussedIntroduce a prospect to someone else that can help them, personally or professionally 9. Be patient Research shows that it can take between 7 and 9 contacts with a prospect before they make a decision to do business with you. The same is true for strategic alliances or referral sources. Dont get discouraged if business doesnt magically appear immediately. 10. Keep track of your networking contacts Create a database or place to organize and store information about the people you meet dont just throw a pile of business cards in a drawer. Your database should include information about where and when you met them, what they do professionally, and what their business and personal interests are. (c) 2007 Allison C. Antiques - Tips on How You Should Care for Them

By Allison Thompson For many antique collectors the taking care of their collection is very important to them. For some who have inherited a lovely collection of heirlooms, yet do not have any idea of how to look after them or even keeping up with the collection they already have as well as they should. By caring for these items correctly they will benefit from them in the future, as not only can they be passed on to their loved ones or they can be sold at a higher value in the future if so wished. Below it provided some tips for which you should be able to care for your antiques and collectibles. There are many sites where you should be able to obtain more detailed information on how to look after your priceless treasures. Firstly, we will look at caring for glass, porcelain or pottery antiques. Any items like these should be washed individually in a wash basin to prevent any damage (such as chipping). You should only ever wash them in warm water never hot or cold and with a gentle cleaner using a soft bristled brush. One thing you should NEVER do is put your antique glass, pottery or porcelain in a dishwasher (the extreme heat and detergent used can be extremely harmful). Also always allow each item to dry naturally and do not use a cloth on them to dry them. Next we need to consider how you should display and store your collection. If you have a home where there are young children or generally lots of visitors then make sure that your glass, pottery and porcelain collections are kept in a safe place (cabinet) well away from the main flow of traffic in the house. Do not put the collection on shelves on walls, it only takes one small vibration to occur whether some one accidentally knocks against the shelf or some one knocks against the wall the shelf is on could mean the loss of your collection. Now we will look at how to look after antique rugs and textiles. Any rugs or textiles that you have will need specialist care when either moving, storing or cleaning them. It is quite easy to cause damage (such as tearing) to occur when you move such items as the material they are made from is very delicate and so you make sure you move them slowly and carefully. If you must roll up an antique rug then ensure that the pile of the rug is facing outwards as this will prevent any damage or crushing to the item. Any antique garments that you have should at all times be hung on sturdy hangers and then covered in white cotton or rolled up using an acid free paper and then closed at either end and tied securely. You can vacuum rugs and textiles, but only use a very low setting and always take extra care when you are vacuuming any textiles as you do not want to end up the suction being strong and causing fibers to be pulled apart. If you do happen to spill anything on the rug, then put white paper towels underneath the rug and above where the spill has occurred and replace them until no more liquid comes out. Should it be required, then contact an expert who will be able to clean it correctly. Also remember to keep an eye on the rug or textile and avoid it being exposed directly to either sun or humidity. If you happened to have collected antique or collectible furniture you will need to dust it usually only a soft lint free cloth. Any wooden antique furniture that you have should be waxed usually only a quality bees wax and where at all possible avoid placing any furnishings in bright light or in to rooms which experience extreme changes in temperature or humidity as they will also cause damage. When moving antique furniture carry it out with extreme care never dragging, but always ensure that the furniture is lifted. Many people find that having a valuable collection of either antiques or collectibles is a privilege and by ensuring that they take proper care of them will not only help to increase their value but it also means that they can be passed down from generation to generation. Not A Math Wiz? Use An Amortization Calculator Instead

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Arseniy_Olevskiy]Arseniy Olevskiy An amortization calculator is an excellent tool to use when it comes to finding out how much your loan is going to cost you. This is a basic calculation that is likely to be near impossible for the average person to figure out on their own can tell you what you need to know. The calculator will spit out a wide range of information. It will tell you how much your monthly payment will be. It will tell you how much of that payment will go towards interest and how much will go towards principal on the loan. And, it will tell you the grand total of all that you will spend on your mortgage. What Is It? An amortization calculator allows you to input some very basic information and it will then tell you just what this information will be. Input the amount of the mortgage to be. This is the cost of the mortgage, the money borrowed, not the amount the home costs.Input the interest rate that the mortgage will have. When doing so, the more accurate you can be about your own interest rate quote the better.Input the term of the loan. This is the length of time it will take for you to pay off the debt. Out comes the amortization schedule with a good amount of information with it. You will find out just what you will be paying for that loan. The calculator does not require you to supply any of your personal information as it simply uses these few things to provide information to you. The calculator can be used to tell you how much you will pay per month on the mortgage that you have taken out. But, you can then use this as a tool to help you find the right type of loan for you. An example is the terms of the loan. While you may think that taking the longest time possible to pay back the loan is the right choice, use the amortization calculator to determine how much it will cost you to go with a 30 year loan in interest as apposed to a 25 or a 20. It may be wiser to go with the shorter terms with a little extra per month if the difference is significant. This also works for helping you to determine how much of a home you can afford. For example, if you can only afford to pay $800 dollars per mouth, then you can use the amortization calculator to determine with the going interest rate just what dollar amount the home you purchase can be. You should do this before you head out to look for a home too. As you can see, there are many ways that this simple tool can work for you. You will take it and use it from the beginning of your search for a home and come up ahead of the game. If you do not, you are likely to find yourself paying more or even worse, not realizing just how much you are paying when you factor in interest and the duration of the loan for your mortgage. Use an amortization calculator and find out now. Chakra Healing

By Susanna Kompogiorgas We can heal the body by healing our chakra, but we must first understand about the chakra - what they are, and how we can work with them. The seven major chakras are energy vortexes located along the spinal column of the body. Picture a wheel spinning as it travels inward from the front of your body, to the center and towards the back of the body from where it spins outward. These spinning wheels are the chakra. These vortexes are energy pools, taking in energy from outside and allow it to circulate in the body. This energy is life force energy, or chi. The chakra, therefore, through their vibrational frequency, draw life force into our body and allow it to flow throughout the body, along the energy pathways, or meridians. This nourishes our tissues and organs with the vital chi force. Chi energy allows the cells of our body to renew themselves and to regenerate properly. If anything disturbs the function of the chakra, we suffer imbalances which eventually manifest as physical, mental or emotional disease. Therefore, when we undergo chakra healing we are restoring the proper function to our chakra - which will restore perfect health to our mind, body and spirit. Chakra healing focuses on the seven main chakra, The seven main chakras are located on the spinal column and there are many secondary chakras all over the body as well. These secondary chakras are smaller energy vortexes located throughout the energy pathways of the body, but they normally affect the physical state of our body only. The major chakra affect our mental and emotional states, as well as the physical. Practitioners working on chi flow, such as acupuncturists or reflexologists, use these secondary chakras to unblock chi. To be in a state of perfect wellbeing, our chakra must be vibrating, or spinning, properly - at the proper rate, or frequency. Our chakras having the right vibrational frequency means that cosmic life force energy is entering our body, and is being distributed efficiently - without any disturbance- giving our organs the vital life force they need to renew themselves and function optimally. This correct vibrational frequency ensures us of our physical, emotional, and mental health. Every chakra has an affect on different parts of the physical body, as well as different states of mind. If our chakra get stuck, and begin to function on an incorrect frequency, physical and/or mental disturbances set in. This is when we need to do chakra healing and restore wellbeing. We need to keep each chakra balanced, energized, clean and vibrating at the proper frequency. If our chakra vibrate on improper frequencies, physical, mental and emotional symptoms begin to manifest - representing the malfunction of the chakra. This is how illness develops. When we experience specific symptoms of physical, mental or emotional poor health, we know that there is a specific chakra that needs healing, and chakra healing will restore wellbeing to the body. Therefore, when physical, mental or emotional symptoms set in, this means that the chi flow has been impaired, slowed down, has become weakened or polluted. This is a direct result of our chakra being slowed down by some factor or factors that disturbed its vibrational frequency. Each of our major chakra in our body is unique - with its own unique vibrational frequency, symbol and color associated with it, and its own specific sound. Our chakra are very vulnerable to all frequencies, especially sound. The music we listen to and the sounds of our environment can either enhance our chakra or disturb them, by affecting their vibrational frequency. It is vital that the sounds of our surroundings are harmonious to us and that they are not dysfunctional - capable of throwing the vibrational frequency of our chakra out of balance. Each major chakra actually makes a sound of its own if it is functioning properly. The vibrational frequencies of colors and gemstones are capable of strengthening and enhancing our chakra. It is important to know that many environmental factors such as electricity, toxins, and other pollutants can negatively affect the vibrational frequency of our chakra. If we are exposed to toxins, electrical pollution, or sounds that disturb our chakra, we need chakra healing. By undergoing chakra healing, we cleanse our chakra from any pollutants and toxins. Then we “feed” our chakra by allowing the proper vibrational frequencies of specific colors, gemstones and sounds to flow in, enhance our chakra and restore balance. Once balance is restored, we see an improvement in the physical, mental and emotional symptoms that reflected the chakra imbalance. We also have to free ourselves from anything in our environment that could negatively affect our chakra The ultimate goal is to be able to achieve perfect frequency in all 7 major chakras. This will allow us to actually raise our whole vibrational level which allows us to perceive, feel and understand many things that are unattainable at lower frequencies. Lipitrex Review - Lifting the Lid on the Lipitrex Weight Loss Phenomenon

By Gerry Lewis It seems that everyone these days is talking about the latest dietary supplement phenomenon to hit the Weight Loss Industry - Lipitrex. There has been much speculation in the media, and elsewhere, as to the truth behind the extravagant claims of the manufacturers and suppliers. There is no doubt that a sizable number of people have been convinced by the “arguments” and have gone on to be regular users of Lipitrex, with, what are claimed to be, amazing results. In this article, which forms part of a series, we examine a major feature of the product and attempt to validate its effectiveness. Lipitrex claims to be the only natural fat-burning supplement to be based around 4 rather unique and exotic ingredients. The presence of these ingredients is not in doubt. What is more difficult to for the Lipitrex Review team to verify, however, is the validity of the apparent benefits. The claimed effects of the product’s constituents can be summarized as follows - They will: - Increase your metabolism or metabolic rate - Increase your energy levels through thermogenisis - Support a healthy thyroid by increasing its stimulation and activity - Decrease or “Block” the amount of carbohydrates that you consume - Decrease or “Block” the amount of fat that you consume - Effectively suppress your appetite and so help control your overall food intake These claims are not unique. One of the problems when comparing the effectiveness of different dietary supplements is that the benefits claimed for products tend to be very similar. It is only when you begin to examine the detail (the “small print” if you like) that differences begin to become apparent. For example, the makers of Lipitrex take a great deal of care to describe in detail the ingredients of their product. And these are quite sensibly, and persuasively linked to the claimed benefits. This is well illustrated by their description of PinnoThin - one of the key ingredients. It is claimed that this controls the appetite by virtue of the fact that it is a natural ingredient, obtained from a special oriental pine tree nut, which can help stimulate the release of a hunger-suppressing hormone. This means that there is a reduced chance that youll feel hungry. This is backed up by recent research conducted on PinoThin which revealed that, within 30 minutes of taking this supplement, people had less desire to eat - and when they did eat, they ate significantly smaller portions. Now this is a compelling argument, and one which seems to be confirmed by the many testimonials which are available. Here’s one testimonial, which has been independently verified as genuine and backs up the claim made regarding a reduction in appetite - “I’ve been on Lipitrex for 3 weeks now and have lost 10 pounds. The thing I like most about Lipitrex is I’m not hungry and seem to have a little more energy. Whenever I have dieted in the past, I always get what I call head hungry, a headache from being hungry. With Lipitrex I didn’t have that or the shaky feeling. I now have 50 more pounds to lose and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Thanks.” Patricia To summarize, the makers of Lipitrex have invested a considerable amount of time and effort (not to mention money) to bring to the market a highly credible product. They describe the ingredients in detail and explain at length the beneficial effects which can be attributed to each. All this is backed up by independent research and verifiable testimonials. Rather impressive we feel! Hopefully, this will have given the reader an initial “feel” for the integrity of the product. In further articles, we explore Lipitrex and it’s uses and effects in more detail. The first thing that you need to remember when going on any interview is to show no fear. It does not matter how you really feel inside. All that matters is what other people can see. If the interviewer sees that you feel uncertain or you are not confident they will have no option but to assume this is because you do not really know how to do the job. Stuttering and stammering never got anyone the job and you need to work on keeping these nervous signs to a minimum. For some people the only way to learn how to interview and to get over these fears is to interview over and over again. That is fine, as long as you can pay your bills in the meantime. But the goal of this article is to help you get the job in the first few interviews, not the first few hundred. You can do it! All you need is a little determination, and when you feel yourself start to falter just remember Gary Kubiak and the Texans interview. If he can hold up in his situation so can you. If you believe in yourself that it will be evident to the interviewer, and that will also impress the heck out of anyone who is interviewing you for a position at their company. One of the best interviewing tips that I have ever come across is not something that you will do when in the actual interview. It is something that you should do well before the interview. Visualize. Visualization has gotten me and many other people through numerous tough spots in life. What you do is go through the entire interviewing process in your mind. The whole thing; from when you get up that morning, to the drive in to when you hear your name called and before. Try to visualize the questions you will be asked and imagine yourself answering easily and smoothly. Don’t just do this visualization exercise once, do it over and over again. At first you might even feel yourself getting nervous imagining the interview but the more you do it, the easier it will become. Pretty soon that interview will seem like a piece of cake. By the time the real interview day rolls around you will be full of confidence and faith in yourself and your ability to handle the situation. This kind of confidence is sure to impress your would be boss and it might even be what wins you the job position. Who knows, that may even be the secret to Gary Kubiak and his interviewing strategy. Try it and you will see the truth in what I am talking about. It is easy and simple. Just try it before bed tonight and see how powerful visualization can really be as an interviewing tool.
